TeamViewer Insturctions
Procedures for Connecting to a Client PC using TeamViewer
[ ] Start TeamViewer on Dennis' laptop, or Conference Room PC
(Note: these are the only two GLM PC's with our commercial license)
[ ] Have client open a browser and put the following in their URL line (i.e. DON'T do a search for it on Google, etc):
http://www.gaslightmedia.com/support
[ ] Request the client to knowledge the download, and run the installation executable
(Note: the exact steps of this vary, from OS and browser versions)
[ ] Once TeamViewer comes up, have the customer give you their "Partner ID" number
[ ] Enter their "Partner ID" in the remote client running on the controlling PC (i.e. Dennis' laptop or the Conf Rm PC)
Press 'Connect to Partner' button
[ ] Enter '0692' as the password. As of this posting (9/11/14), password for all remote control connections is the same.
[ ] You should now be connected to the remote client's desktop.
[ ] When the remote session is terminated at either end, the session is dropped.
If you wish to re-connect to the same client, just have them go back to http://www.gaslightmedia.com/support, and re-do the initial steps. The client COULD go find the previous TeamViewer installation executable in their downloads folder, but it is just about as quick, to just have them re-start the process.
[ ] As usual, you really need to use the program to learn it's ins and outs .. but some handy shortcuts are at the
top of the connection window .. you can send sequences (like Ctl/Alt/Del), start a text chat mode (in case you aren't on the phone with the client during the remote control session), etc.
[ ] Once the session is complete, I usually go to GLMDB ( http://glmdb.gaslightmedia.com/project.php?pid=3796)
and log how TeamViewer was used, so we have a handle on how much it is used, how often, duration, what it was used for, etc.
