John: Google confirms the Admin mess. If you want to provide administrative access to other users of an account, those users will be able to see and modify all view (profile) data for all websites being tracked in the account. For example, if you administer Analytics tracking for two companies, you would set up a separate Analytics account for the websites owned by each company. Since you might want to provide administrative access to individuals in each company, you would not want to expose sensitive reporting data between companies, so it makes sense to track the websites from different companies in separate accounts.

John: That's what I'm reading.

jodiebiss: Or not let them have Admin

Sent at 4:11 PM on Thursday John: That won't work for those that have Marketing Consultants etc. We may have to set up a new google acct just for the Analytics for each client. We can't move out anyone under gaslight without losing the historical data.

jodiebiss: Yeah - but doing so, we have to be added to their account then in order to help support their questions And if they already have a Google account, it makes no sense to create a completely sepearate one just for Analytics That becomes a mess

John: If we set it up we could log in as them

jodiebiss: But not for an existing user. They should not give us access to their personal Google account

John: That's why we would create a new separate account just for GA

jodiebiss: No. Causes more support and confusion to client Again - we are talking less than 10-% of our clients that are using a marketing agency that would want these priviledges. And for those accounts, yes, a completely separate Google account would be setup for them to access analytics That is doable For folks like Dave from Laurium, or Mary from Benzie - we could add their adddress under GLM and call it a day

John: As long as they know admin access is no-no. In fact For marketing types we could set up the profile views they request without them having admin on all our sites.

jodiebiss: Yes, and I think Ove was doing that . He played Nazi with the analytics and would setup items on their behalf - for that reason

John: OKI I'll set up Dave under GLM

jodiebiss: OK
